I Want to Lose Weight but it's Proving Difficult!
The western world is obsessed with shedding those extra pounds, but most dieters will be fighting a losing battle until the day they accept the fact that the fastest way to lose weight, and keep it off, is by adopting a whole new attitude and outlook on their way of living. There is no miracle diet plan, or quick fix, and the only weight control that really works is the one that you adopt into you new way of living and stick to it. Harsh words but true. Why else do we constantly see overweight people who just get bigger and slower year by year despite always being on some new weight management program? You can hear them now, "I want to lose weight", they cry, so what's stopping them? The answer is simple - hardly anyone ever follows through!
There is no question of doubt that people genuinely want to lose weight, but unfortunately they want to consume all their favorite foods more than they want to lose pounds of body fat. This has to be true because we all know what we need to do to in order to achieve fat reduction. It's easy to blame this eating plan or that exercise program for our failed dieting, but if most of us really and honestly look back at our attempts to get into shape, we can easily see that what we lacked was stamina, follow through, and a life time commitment.
"I want to lose weight now", she cried!
A lady wrote in a while back in a right ole crises. She said, and I quote, ''I want to lose weight now because being obese is really starting to get me down". Now I'm no doctor but when I asked her what she had done so far to slim down, she simply replied "I've tried just about every diet plan going, both old and new". It soon became apparent what her real problem was. This lady was what's known as an armchair dieter. By that, I mean she never exercised and regualr exercise is a crucial part of any diet regime. One just does not work well without the other!
It's just not possible to find a diet anywhere which doesn't emphasize the importance of exercise for fast and healthy weightloss. Sure you will lose a few pounds if you cut out all the junk food and replace it with healthy options, but that will only take you so far. Exercise is crucial for weighloss and no dieter will succeed without some form of regular mild to moderate physical workout. On the flip side of that, doing exercises to lose weight without changing eating habits will also fail, and the older you get, the more evident this becomes.
So if you've read this far and are still asking the question, how can I lose weight?, then you're just one of millions that don't get the message and are doomed to be unsuccessful in any future attempts to lose weight fast and effectively. Diets work in combination with regular exercise, but weight will not stay off unless you adopt a whole new way of living, and that all starts with putting less in your mouth and moving your body until it becomes habitual and natural.
Remember, weight loss products, diet plans, exercise regimes and so on are mostly effective with the exception of a few scams out there, but none of these things will work unless you work them. The way we consume food, the types of foods we put down our gullets, and the excuses we find to constantly put things off, are simply bad habits formed over time.
All habits can be broken and replaced with new ones and the day you sit down and seriously draw up a plan of action is the day you will not have to repeat that awful statement of I want to lose weight. You will replace it with something along the lines of 'I'm going to lose weight no matter what'.
Don't worry if you take a few attempts to get there. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day! Being good to yourself means you no longer beat yourself up with that invisible stick every time you head back for the cookie jar. If you are finding it difficult to give yourself a break, at least beat yourself up with a feather until you get on the right track. Remember, you're aiming for progress, not perfection.
