Stomach Exercise - How Hard is it to tone up?

Unfortunately, our skin tends to lose its elasticity after the age of 40, and so getting that tummy into some kind of shape becomes all the more harder for us older folks! If you’re anything like me, as the years have rolled on you’ve allowed yourself to get a bit of a gut , but there comes a time when we want to replace that fat stomach with a flat stomach which many of us had in our slender youth. So the time comes to look into some serious stomach exercise programs.

Like many before me, I’ve actually put myself through the ab wringer and tried just about everything to rid my pot belly, but I later realised that although my abs became strong, they were sitting latent because the exercise did nothing to remove my fat, and there’s little point in building up you abs if you can’t see them – right! So, to exercises stomach muscles alone is great for toning the abdominals, but does little to get rid of the rings of fat. This meant my stomach problems were still an issue so I had to take up jogging in order to lose stomach fat and reveal my abs.



There's nothing more attractive than a flat stomach be you a man or a woman, although I don't personally like to see the six-pack effect on women. Not only do our clothes fit and hang better, they're much more comfortable to wear too. Alas, the flat belly is like so many things in life, we don't appreciate it until it's gone. That usually means late 30's early 40's for many of us, although many youngsters also have problems these days too due to lack or exercise and poor diet.

Stomach Exercises Alone Won't Reduce Flab!

Once the excess fat begins to burn off through regular exercise and a healthy diet, then the abdominal exercise regime begins to really feel worth the effort. Just imagine proudly cutting the lawn during those summer months without the big belly hanging over the shorts, and for you ladies you can once again potter in the garden in a bikini or swim suite without running for cover every time the next door neighbor sticks his head over the fence to say hi.

Fat bellies will not disappear just because you’re doing stomach exercises. I know, I’ve tried! The toned abs will be there, only latent. That’s right folks, they will be hidden from view because they are covered by your gut. Aerobic exercise burns fat, stomach exercise tones stomach muscles.

So you have to exercise the whole body and not just exercise for the stomach if you are to achieve your goals. There are of course numerous flat stomach exercise plans to choose from, and some of these can be tough on the lower back, so you might need to seek a little professional help and advice at finding something that's right for you. Any trainer at the local gym should be able to get you started, even it you don't patronize their facility, I'm sure they'll be happy to advise on a regime for the home.

Battling the Belly Fat?

The way to lose that belly fat is to simply get involved in some kind of aerobic exercise, which involves any kind of workout which increases respiration and heart rates, such as jogging, swimming, dancing, hard cycling, power walking or whatever kind of exercise you prefer, but you must break a sweat and push yourself a little to see any benefit. Hey, no one said it would be easy, just that it would be well worth the effort!

So remember folks, any kind of muscle exercise may tone you up and make you strong, but it doesn’t necessarily make you fit. Physical exercise in conjunction with a muscular workout is the key here. It’s all certainly achievable, but you need to adopt a little patience and persistence and then the rewards will be well worth all that hard work, and dare I say pain.
