How to Exercise your Body & Mind!
To be honest, not that many people relish the thought of exercise. It often hurts, it takes up time, and it can be boring. So why do it? The answer to that is pretty simple. After exercise, most of us feel just fantastic. Also, exercise not only makes us feel good, afterwards, but it makes us look good too by keeping off those unwanted pounds. The secret of keeping fit is about how to exercise, or how to approach exercise. When you can dismiss the negatives and zoom in on the positives, your attitude towards exercise changes for the better. As one famous quote goes; when you change the way you look at things, those things you look at change!
Ok, that said, what do you do currently do to keep in shape? Do you hit the local gym or health club for an hour of rigorous cardio each day, or do you pump iron in your garage or basement? Regardless of what fitness regimes you've adopted, you probably have the same goals in mind; stay thin and have a great body. This is pretty much the American dream when it comes to appearance.
Now, there is an important aspect of fitness to address. It's not what gym you attend or what brand of exercise equipment you prefer, but more or less concerns fundamentals. Do you truly know how to exercise? Now, I know what you're thinking; this is a bizarre question. However, it is a valid one still. Too many individuals do not know how to exercise correctly, which can result in soreness, pulled muscles, and overall poor results. Now, are you confident in your fitness regimes and practices? Don't make the silly mistake that I made.
It literally took me years of unhealthy living to get all fat and wobbly, yet I decided one day that it all had to go like yesterday. I bought a bunch of home gym exercise equipment, including a Schwinn Recumbent exercise bike, and got to work immediately. I overdid it on day 1 and as a consequence had to rest up for 10 days before continuing, only this time I took it slowly and learnt how to exercise the right way.
These days it is rather simple to learn how to exercise if you just give yourself a minute. Stop and think about what you enjoy doing. Are you a runner, who circles the neighborhood every night, or a pilates fanatic, who works it out in front of the television? Who taught you the proper way to practice these exercises? Even the simplest of routines can be done incorrectly. This is why you should exhaust your resources when taking up a new fitness regime.
You want to make sure you understand how to exercise the right way from the beginning. This way you will avoid picking up poor habits. Believe me, once you've acquired certain habits and routines, they can be quite difficult to break away from. Maybe you're interested in starting out with a professional at the local fitness club or gym. This way you can learn how to exercise properly and continue with it on your own if you wish.
I can remember back in high school when I used to do push-ups every night before bed. One day I found out while watching a fitness show that I had been doing the standard push-up wrong for years. That's kind of sad, but it happens frequently to many of us. When you do not learn how to exercise the right way, you fail to attain maximum results. Btw folks, whatever you do, don’t forget to do that all important warm up routine relevant to the type of exercise you are about to begin. There are more pulled muscles and torn ligaments because folks failed to warm up first, than through any other causes of exercise. This is especially true when you hit middle age and beyond – like me :(
